Keystone Correction

Adjusting a projected image to correct the trapezoidal distortion caused when a projector is not perpendicular to the screen.

Definition

Digital keystone correction reshapes the image by processing, which reduces effective resolution and can soften detail. Optical lens shift moves the image without loss and is preferred in installations. Proper mounting position eliminates the need for keystone correction.

Example

A ceiling-mounted projector tilted down produces a wider top edge, corrected with vertical keystone.

Exam tip

Use lens shift or reposition first; digital keystone reduces image quality.
