MyCAA

now the SpouseWorks Scholarship

The military spouse scholarship for licenses and certifications. Renamed the SpouseWorks Scholarship, but most people still search for MyCAA.

thinQtank is set up to be paid through this program. Ask us for a quote in the format your portal wants.

What it pays

The numbers people get wrong most often.

The award
Up to $4,000 in tuition assistance.
The name
Officially the SpouseWorks Scholarship now. Every official page still writes it as "SpouseWorks Scholarship (formerly MyCAA)", and the portal is still on a mycaa address.
What it buys
Licenses, certifications, associate degrees, and continuing education needed to keep a license or certification current.
What it will not buy
Bachelor's and master's degrees.

Who qualifies

The official portal makes the final call. This is the shape of it.

You are likely eligible if

  • Spouses of active-duty, National Guard and Reserve members serving under qualifying Title 10 orders.
  • Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Space Force.
  • Pursuing a license, certification or associate degree that leads to employment.

You are not eligible if

  • Spouses of senior officers and senior warrant officers are generally outside the eligible pay grades. The exact grade range has changed more than once and official pages currently word it loosely, so check the eligibility screen in the portal rather than trusting any grade table you find online — including ours.
  • Service members married to service members, claiming as the spouse.
  • Spouses who are legally separated from the sponsor.

How to apply

Give yourself about two months before you want to start. Plan approval is the long pole, and funding has to be requested before the course begins.

Build an Education and Training Plan

With a SpouseWorks career coach. This is the step people underestimate — it is a conversation, not a form.

Submit the plan for approval

Then request funding for individual courses against the approved plan.

Where this actually happens

Funding requests go through SpouseWorks Scholarship portal (Military OneSource). Look the credential up first on Military OneSource program page. Both are official sites — we do not sit between you and either of them.

What catches people out

Worth reading before you submit anything.

Talk to a career coach early

Free, and they know which credentials get approved. Military OneSource: 800-342-9647.

The plan gates everything

No approved Education and Training Plan, no funding request. Build it before you pick dates with us.

Confirm the current annual limit in the portal

An annual cap inside the $4,000 lifetime total has applied historically. Official pages no longer state a figure, so we are not going to print one — the portal will tell you where you stand.

Governing policy: Administered by the Department of Defense through Military OneSource. Program collateral last refreshed July 2026.
Checked against official sources in August 2026.

Next steps

Pick the credential, and we will put the quote together in whatever format your portal wants.

thinQtank® Learning is a training provider. We are not the U.S. Army, ArmyIgnitED, Army COOL, the Department of the Air Force, AFVEC, AF COOL, the Department of Defense, Military OneSource, or the Department of Veterans Affairs, and we are not endorsed by any of them. Eligibility, credential approval, funding availability and payment authorisation are decided by those organizations inside their own systems, under their own policies, which change. This page was checked against official sources in August 2026 and is a starting point, not advice about your particular situation. Confirm your own eligibility and current limits in your official portal before you commit to anything.
