Digit Discard Instructions (DDI)

CUCM settings that remove parts of a dialed number, such as PreDot to strip an access code, before sending it to the destination.

Definition

DDIs apply to route patterns and translation patterns and depend on the pattern's structure; for example PreDot removes everything before the dot, and with @ patterns options such as 11D->10D or Trailing-# are available. They allow users to dial access codes like 9 while sending carrier-friendly numbers. Prefix digits and significant digits are related manipulations.

Example

Pattern 9.@ with DDI PreDot sends 14085551234 to the gateway when a user dials 914085551234.

Exam tip

PreDot requires a dot in the pattern; without it the instruction does nothing.
