Client Matter Code (CMC)

A CUCM feature that prompts users for a code on outbound calls so call charges can be billed to clients or projects.

Definition

When a route pattern requires a CMC, the caller enters a code after dialing, and the code is recorded in the CDR for chargeback. CMCs do not restrict calls by level the way FACs do. They are common in law firms and consultancies.

Example

An attorney enters client code 4521 when calling a client so the call is billed to that matter.

Exam tip

CMC is for accounting; FAC is for authorization.
