Call Detail Record (CDR)

A record generated for each call with details such as calling and called numbers, time, duration and disconnect cause.

Definition

CUCM generates CDRs and Call Management Records (CMRs), which contain quality metrics such as jitter, latency and lost packets. CDR Analysis and Reporting (CAR) and third-party billing tools use these records for chargeback, usage reports and troubleshooting. CDRs must be enabled through service parameters.

Example

A CMR shows that calls from Branch3 had 5 percent packet loss, indicating a WAN QoS problem.

Exam tip

CDRs record calls; CMRs record quality diagnostics. Both may need enabling.
