Change Control Board (CCB)

A formally constituted group responsible for reviewing, evaluating, approving, deferring, or rejecting changes to the project.

Definition

The CCB's authority and membership are defined in the change management plan. Not every change requires the CCB; minor changes may be within the PM's delegated authority.

Example

The CCB rejects a scope change because it would delay the regulatory deadline.

Exam tip

The PM typically does not approve baseline changes alone; the CCB or sponsor does, per the plan.
