Calling and Called Party Transformation Pattern

CUCM patterns applied at egress or ingress via transformation CSSs to change number presentation, such as localizing +E.164 numbers.

Definition

Transformation patterns do not route calls; they modify the calling or called number on devices, gateways and trunks according to the transformation CSS assigned to them. In globalized designs, numbers are stored in +E.164 internally and localized at egress, for example converting +14085551234 to 14085551234 for a carrier or to 5551234 for display on a local phone.

Example

A calling party transformation on the gateway strips +1 so the carrier receives a 10-digit caller ID.

Exam tip

Transformations are applied on the egress device (or incoming for incoming transformations); they never select a route.
