Stratis

A Red Hat local storage management solution that builds pools and thin-provisioned XFS filesystems on top of block devices.

Definition

Stratis manages pools with the stratis command and the stratisd daemon, providing snapshots and thin provisioning without manual LVM steps. Filesystems are mounted using their UUID with the x-systemd.requires=stratisd.service option in fstab.

Example

stratis pool create pool1 /dev/sdb; stratis filesystem create pool1 fs1 creates a pool and filesystem.

Exam tip

Stratis filesystems are always XFS, and fstab entries need x-systemd.requires=stratisd.service.
