SIP Normalization Script

A Lua script attached to a CUCM SIP trunk that modifies SIP messages for interoperability with other systems.

Definition

Normalization scripts give CUCM the ability to add, remove or change headers and SDP on a per-trunk basis, similar to SIP profiles on CUBE. CUCM includes built-in scripts for specific integrations such as some Microsoft and video systems. Scripts have memory and execution limits to protect CUCM performance.

Example

A Lua script on the trunk to a third-party IVR removes an unsupported header from INVITEs.

Exam tip

Normalization on CUCM uses Lua; on CUBE it uses SIP profiles.
