Pixel Pitch

The center-to-center distance between adjacent pixels on a direct-view LED display, measured in millimeters.

Definition

Smaller pixel pitch provides higher resolution for a given size and allows closer viewing; larger pitch costs less and suits distant viewing. Common indoor fine-pitch LED walls range roughly from 0.9 mm to 2.5 mm. Rules of thumb relate minimum comfortable viewing distance to pixel pitch.

Example

A 1.5 mm pitch LED wall in a lobby looks smooth from 2 m, while a 4 mm wall needs viewers farther away.

Exam tip

Smaller pitch = higher resolution and closer viewing distance, at higher cost.
