Non-Overlapping Channels

Channels whose spectrum does not overlap, such as 1, 6, and 11 in the 2.4 GHz US band.

Definition

Using non-overlapping channels prevents adjacent channel interference between neighboring APs. In 2.4 GHz only three exist in the US, while 5 GHz and 6 GHz offer many more. A channel reuse plan assigns them so neighbors do not share channels.

Example

Three adjacent APs use channels 1, 6, and 11.

Exam tip

Channels 1, 6, 11 is the classic exam answer for 2.4 GHz.
