Channel Reuse Plan

An assignment of channels to APs so neighbors use different channels and same-channel APs are separated.

Definition

Good reuse plans minimize co-channel and adjacent channel interference, including vertically between floors. In 2.4 GHz only channels 1, 6, and 11 are available in the US, while 5 GHz and 6 GHz allow wider reuse and channel bonding. RRM typically automates the plan.

Example

A three-floor building alternates 1, 6, 11 vertically to avoid stacking the same channel.

Exam tip

Remember to plan in three dimensions, considering floors above and below.
