Multimedia Conferencing Marking

Marking interactive video such as desktop and room conferencing as AF41 under RFC 4594-based designs.

Definition

Interactive video from Webex devices, soft clients and conferencing endpoints is commonly marked AF41 (DSCP 34), while immersive TelePresence may use CS4. Voice from the same call stays EF. Video is often placed either in its own CBWFQ class or, in some designs, in a second priority queue, with care to keep total priority traffic within limits.

Example

A Cisco Room Kit marks its video RTP as AF41 and audio RTP as EF.

Exam tip

Audio and video from the same call get different markings; do not put all video in EF.
