Mesh Topology

A topology in which devices have multiple interconnections, providing redundant paths.

Definition

Full mesh connects every node to every other, while partial mesh connects only critical nodes redundantly. Mesh designs provide high availability at the cost of more links and complexity. Wireless mesh networks use radio links between nodes.

Example

Core routers in a WAN are partially meshed for redundancy.

Exam tip

More paths = more resilience but more cost.
