CompTIA IT Fundamentals+ (ITF+) exam guide

Exam FC0-U61 (retired); replacement FC0-U71 (Tech+)

CompTIA IT Fundamentals (ITF+) was CompTIA's pre-career exam covering basic IT concepts. CompTIA retired ITF+ in 2025 and replaced it with CompTIA Tech+ (FC0-U71), so new candidates should take Tech+; existing ITF+ certifications remain valid for life.

Exam-day tips

  • Do not buy FC0-U61 study material; the exam is retired.
  • Tech+ infrastructure (24%) and security (19%) are the largest domains.
  • Questions are short and practical; 60 minutes for up to 70 questions is plenty.
  • If you plan to take A+ soon, you can skip Tech+ entirely; it is not a prerequisite.
