Local Route Group (LRG)

A CUCM feature that resolves a placeholder route group to the gateway assigned in the calling device's device pool.

Definition

With LRG, a single set of route patterns can route PSTN calls through each caller's local gateway: the route list contains Standard Local Route Group, and each device pool maps it to a site-specific route group. This dramatically reduces the number of route patterns and partitions in multisite globalized dial plans. Device Mobility can change the local route group when a device roams.

Example

Users at every site share route pattern \+! pointing to RL-LRG, and the call leaves via each site's own gateway.

Exam tip

LRG is the key to scalable centralized dial plans with local breakout; know that it is configured on the device pool.
