Fuser Assembly

The heated rollers in a laser printer that melt and press toner onto paper.

Definition

The fuser uses a heated roller and pressure roller at roughly 180-200 C to bond toner to the page. Failing fusers cause smudged, easily rubbed-off toner or wrinkled paper. The fuser stays hot after use, so let it cool before servicing.

Example

Toner rubs off when you swipe a finger across a fresh printout: replace the fuser.

Exam tip

Loose, smearing toner = fuser. Fuser is a burn hazard during maintenance.
