Enhanced Locations Call Admission Control (ELCAC)

A CUCM CAC model that represents the network as locations and links with bandwidth so calls across multiple hops are tracked accurately.

Definition

ELCAC models multi-hop topologies by assigning bandwidth to links between locations and calculating the effective path for each call. Location Bandwidth Manager services share bandwidth information within and between clusters, so intercluster calls through Shadow locations are counted correctly. It replaced the older hub-and-spoke-only locations model.

Example

A call from Branch1 to Branch2 deducts bandwidth from both the Branch1-Hub and Hub-Branch2 links.

Exam tip

ELCAC uses the Location Bandwidth Manager service and the Shadow location for SIP intercluster trunks.
