Dial Peer

An IOS configuration entry that defines a call leg's matching criteria and destination, either POTS (telephony port) or VoIP (IP target).

Definition

POTS dial peers point to voice ports such as PRIs or FXS ports; VoIP dial peers point to IP addresses, DNS names or server groups with a session protocol such as SIP. Each call through a gateway or CUBE uses an inbound and an outbound dial peer, and settings like codecs, DTMF method, translation profiles and SIP profiles are applied per dial peer.

Example

dial-peer voice 100 voip / destination-pattern 91[2-9]..[2-9]...... / session target ipv4:203.0.113.10 sends calls to the ITSP.

Exam tip

Every call has two call legs, each matched to a dial peer; unmatched inbound legs use default dial peer 0 with default settings.
