Device Mobility

A CUCM feature that applies site-specific settings to phones based on the IP subnet they connect from when roaming between sites.

Definition

Device Mobility Info entries map IP subnets to device pools. When a phone registers from a subnet tied to a different physical location, CUCM overrides roaming-sensitive settings (region, location, date/time group, SRST reference, MRGL and more) and optionally device mobility related settings such as the device CSS and AAR group. This ensures correct codecs, CAC and local PSTN routing for roaming users.

Example

A laptop with Webex App moves to the Boston office and automatically receives the Boston region and SRST reference.

Exam tip

Device Mobility is subnet-based and works for devices; Extension Mobility is user login-based.
