Webex Media Ports

The network ports Webex clients and devices use for media, preferring UDP 5004 and falling back to TCP or TLS 443.

Definition

Webex media performs best over UDP, primarily port 5004 (with UDP 9000 used by some Webex Meetings traffic), and falls back to TCP 5004 or TLS on 443 when UDP is blocked, at the cost of quality. Signaling uses HTTPS 443. Cisco publishes IP ranges for Webex media nodes so firewalls and QoS policies can match them.

Example

A firewall allowing outbound UDP 5004 to Webex media ranges prevents clients from falling back to TCP.

Exam tip

UDP is preferred for real-time media; TCP fallback indicates a firewall issue and degrades quality.
