Product Owner (PO)

The Scrum accountability for maximizing the value of the product resulting from the Scrum Team's work.

Definition

The PO is one person, not a committee, who manages the Product Backlog: developing and communicating the Product Goal, creating and ordering backlog items, and ensuring transparency. The PO may delegate work but remains accountable.

Example

The PO reorders the backlog after user feedback shows low uptake of a feature.

Exam tip

Only the PO can cancel a Sprint; the PO's decisions are visible in the Product Backlog.
