Pod

The smallest deployable unit in Kubernetes: one or more containers sharing network namespace, storage volumes, and a lifecycle.

Definition

Containers in a pod share an IP address and can communicate via localhost. Pods are ephemeral and are normally created by controllers like Deployments rather than directly.

Example

kubectl run tmp --image=busybox --restart=Never -it -- sh

Exam tip

Pods are not self-healing on their own; use a controller for restarts on node failure.
