Plan of Action

Step four of troubleshooting: plan the fix, consider impacts, and implement the solution or escalate.

Definition

Once the cause is confirmed, the technician plans the remediation, considers side effects and change management requirements, and implements it. Steps may include scheduling downtime, obtaining approval, and backing up data. Escalation is appropriate if the fix is beyond the technician's authority.

Example

Schedule a motherboard replacement after hours with a backup and an approved change ticket.

Exam tip

Implement only after the theory is confirmed; check corporate policy and change management first.
