Local Gateway (LGW)

A customer-premises CUBE that connects Webex Calling to an existing PSTN provider or on-premises call control.

Definition

The LGW registers to Webex Calling as a trunk, using registration-based (SIP digest) or certificate-based (mutual TLS) connectivity, and routes calls between Webex and the local PSTN or a CUCM cluster. It requires TLS 1.2 with SRTP toward Webex, appropriate CA trust bundles and dial-peer configuration often based on tenants and dial-peer groups. Trunks connect to Webex locations or route groups in Control Hub.

Example

An ISR 4431 LGW keeps the company's existing PRI and DID numbers when moving to Webex Calling.

Exam tip

Registration-based LGW is tied to one location; certificate-based LGW can be shared via route groups.
