Lightweight Directory Access Protocol Synchronization (LDAP sync)

Importing users from a corporate directory such as Active Directory into CUCM and keeping them updated on a schedule.

Definition

CUCM LDAP directory synchronization pulls user attributes such as user ID, name, telephone number and mail from AD or other LDAP directories into end user records. Feature group templates can automatically provision lines and services for newly synced users. LDAP authentication, configured separately, sends password checks to the directory while PINs remain local to CUCM.

Example

CUCM syncs users from the OU=Employees container in Active Directory every 24 hours using sAMAccountName as user ID.

Exam tip

Synced users cannot have directory attributes edited in CUCM; LDAP authentication affects passwords but not PINs.
