K Values

The EIGRP metric weights K1-K5 (plus K6 in wide metrics) that determine which components are used in the metric.

Definition

Defaults are K1=1 (bandwidth), K2=0 (load), K3=1 (delay), K4=0 and K5=0 (reliability). K values must match between neighbors or adjacency fails. Cisco advises against changing them.

Example

metric weights 0 1 0 1 0 0

Exam tip

'K-value mismatch' in logs explains why EIGRP neighbors will not form.
