Identity Trust List (ITL)

A CUCM file, created by default, that lets phones verify the signature of configuration files and trust CUCM services.

Definition

As part of Security by Default, phones download the ITL file and use it to authenticate signed configuration files and to contact the Trust Verification Service for certificates not in the list. If CUCM certificates change incorrectly, phones may reject new configuration until the ITL is reset. ITL does not encrypt calls; it only provides authentication of files and services.

Example

After a TFTP certificate is regenerated, phones fail to download config until the ITL is reset on each phone.

Exam tip

Regenerating certificates without planning can break the ITL trust chain on phones.
