Hybrid Approach

A combination of predictive and adaptive elements chosen to fit the project and its environment.

Definition

Hybrid projects may use predictive planning for fixed components (such as hardware or regulatory deliverables) and adaptive delivery for uncertain components (such as software). Tailoring determines which elements to combine.

Example

A medical-device project uses a predictive plan for regulatory documentation while firmware is built in Scrum sprints.

Exam tip

Hybrid is the expected answer when parts of a project are stable and others are uncertain.
