git push

A Git command that uploads local branch commits to a remote repository.

Definition

Push updates the remote branch if it is a fast-forward; otherwise it is rejected until you integrate remote changes. --force-with-lease is a safer force push that fails if someone else has pushed.

Example

git push -u origin feature/login sets upstream tracking for the branch.

Exam tip

Prefer --force-with-lease over --force; protected branches usually block force pushes entirely.
