Estimate at Completion (EAC)

The expected total cost of completing all work: commonly EAC = AC + ETC.

Definition

Common formulas: BAC / CPI (current variances typical); AC + (BAC - EV) (variances atypical); AC + [(BAC - EV) / (CPI x SPI)] (both cost and schedule affect remaining work); AC + bottom-up ETC (original estimate flawed).

Example

BAC $100k, CPI 0.8: EAC = $125k.

Exam tip

Pick the formula from the wording: 'typical' uses BAC/CPI; 'atypical' or 'one-time' uses AC + BAC - EV.
