DDR5 SDRAM

Fifth-generation DDR memory with on-module power management, two subchannels per DIMM, and speeds from 4800 MT/s.

Definition

DDR5 runs at 1.1 V, places the power management IC (PMIC) on the module, and splits each DIMM into two independent 32-bit subchannels for better efficiency. It includes on-die ECC for internal cell reliability, which is not the same as full ECC memory. Desktop DIMMs have 288 pins and SO-DIMMs have 262 pins.

Example

A DDR5-6000 32 GB kit with an AMD EXPO profile for an AM5 system.

Exam tip

On-die ECC in DDR5 does not make standard DDR5 equal to ECC memory used in servers.
