Call Forward Unregistered (CFUR)

A CUCM forwarding setting that routes calls for a DN to an alternate destination, such as its PSTN number, when the device is unregistered.

Definition

CFUR is configured per directory number with separate internal and external destinations and a CSS. In centralized deployments it lets HQ users reach branch phones in SRST mode by redirecting calls through the PSTN using the DN's external number. A maximum forward hop setting prevents loops when the PSTN call routes back to CUCM.

Example

During a WAN outage, a call to branch extension 3001 is forwarded via CFUR to +1 214 555 3001, which the branch gateway delivers to the SRST phone.

Exam tip

CFUR handles unregistered devices; AAR handles bandwidth denial. Watch for the CFUR loop prevention setting.
