Weighted Shortest Job First (WSJF)

Prioritization model that sequences jobs to produce maximum economic benefit: Cost of Delay divided by job duration (or job size).

Definition

In SAFe, Cost of Delay = user-business value + time criticality + risk reduction/opportunity enablement, each estimated with relative Fibonacci values. Job size is used as a proxy for duration.

Example

Feature A: CoD 21, size 3 = WSJF 7; Feature B: CoD 30, size 10 = 3. Do A first.

Exam tip

Highest WSJF first; small jobs with high CoD win.
