Vulnerability Remediation SLA

A defined maximum time to fix a vulnerability based on its severity or risk rating.

Definition

Typical SLAs might require critical issues to be fixed within days and lows within months, though values vary by organization and regulation. Risk-based SLAs may factor in exploitability (EPSS, KEV listing) and asset exposure. Exceptions require formal risk acceptance.

Example

Policy: critical internet-facing vulnerabilities must be remediated within 15 days.

Exam tip

SLAs are policy decisions; exam answers rarely expect a specific number unless a regulation is cited.
