Time-of-Day Restrictions

Access controls that limit when accounts can log in or resources can be used.

Definition

Time-of-day restrictions reduce exposure by blocking access outside approved hours. They are configured in Active Directory logon hours, Conditional Access, PAM tools, and firewall schedules. They are an example of rule-based or attribute-based control.

Example

Contractor accounts are allowed to sign in only Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Exam tip

Commonly listed as an account policy alongside location-based restrictions.
