Security Regression Testing

Re-running security tests after changes to confirm that previously fixed vulnerabilities have not returned.

Definition

Each fixed vulnerability should yield an automated test (unit, integration or DAST) that runs in CI. This prevents reintroduction through merges or refactors.

Example

After fixing an IDOR, the team adds an automated test that requests another user's resource and expects 403.

Exam tip

Turn every fixed vuln into an automated regression test.
