Remediation Retest

A follow-up test verifying that previously reported vulnerabilities have been properly fixed.

Definition

After the client remediates findings, testers re-run the specific checks or exploits to confirm the fix is effective and has not introduced regressions. Results are documented in a retest letter or updated report. Retests are often included in the SOW.

Example

Testers re-send the SQL injection payload from the original report and confirm the parameter is now parameterized.

Exam tip

A retest validates fixes; it is not a new full-scope penetration test.
