Retry Rate

The percentage of frames retransmitted because no acknowledgment was received.

Definition

High retry rates indicate interference, hidden nodes, low SNR, or collisions. Retries consume airtime and add latency. Enterprises often aim for under 10 percent retries, with lower targets for voice.

Example

A protocol analyzer shows the Retry bit set on 25 percent of frames.

Exam tip

The Retry bit in the frame control field marks retransmitted frames.
