Phone Security Profile

A CUCM profile that defines device security mode (non-secure, authenticated or encrypted), transport and CAPF settings for phones.

Definition

Non-secure mode uses no signaling protection; authenticated mode uses TLS for signaling integrity but sends media unencrypted; encrypted mode uses TLS for signaling and SRTP for media. The profile also controls encrypted TFTP configuration and the CAPF authentication mode. Secure modes require the cluster to be in mixed mode and the phone to have a valid certificate.

Example

Executives' phones use an encrypted profile so calls show a lock icon and use SRTP.

Exam tip

Authenticated equals TLS without SRTP; encrypted equals TLS plus SRTP.
