Location-Based Routing (LBR)

A Teams Direct Routing feature that restricts toll bypass by routing PSTN calls according to the user's network site.

Definition

Some countries, such as India, prohibit bypassing the local PSTN with VoIP. LBR uses network regions, sites and subnets to determine user location and ensures PSTN calls egress through the local SBC, blocking calls that would violate regulations. It is enabled on network sites, SBCs and through calling policies.

Example

A user in Mumbai can place PSTN calls only through the Mumbai SBC when on the office subnet.

Exam tip

LBR is a regulatory compliance feature for toll bypass; network sites must be defined in Teams.
