Link-State Database (LSDB)

The collection of LSAs a link-state router holds, identical among all routers in the same area.

Definition

Each router in an area synchronizes its LSDB with neighbors through database exchange and flooding. SPF runs on the LSDB to produce the shortest path tree. ABRs keep one LSDB per attached area. In IS-IS the equivalent database holds LSPs per level.

Example

show ip ospf database router 1.1.1.1

Exam tip

All routers in one area must have the same LSDB; mismatched databases indicate flooding problems.
