InfiniBand

A high-throughput, low-latency network fabric with native RDMA, widely used to connect GPU clusters.

Definition

NVIDIA Quantum InfiniBand switches and ConnectX adapters provide lossless, credit-based flow control, RDMA and in-network computing (SHARP). Fabrics are managed by a subnet manager, often via NVIDIA UFM. Current generations run at 400 Gb/s (NDR) and 800 Gb/s (XDR).

Exam tip

InfiniBand requires a subnet manager; Ethernet alternatives use RoCE.
