Fine-Grained Password Policy (FGPP)

An AD feature that applies different password and lockout policies to specific users or global groups through Password Settings Objects.

Definition

Normally only one domain password policy exists, set by GPO at the domain level. FGPPs (PSOs) apply to users or global security groups and use precedence to resolve conflicts.

Example

A PSO requiring 20-character passwords is applied to the Domain Admins group.

Exam tip

FGPP applies to users and global security groups, not to OUs.
