Fiber to the Premises (FTTP)

Broadband access in which optical fiber runs all the way to the home or business, also called FTTH for homes.

Definition

FTTP delivers symmetric multi-gigabit speeds and low latency, usually over a passive optical network. FTTC/FTTN variants bring fiber only to a curb or neighborhood cabinet and use copper for the last segment.

Example

A home receives 2 Gbps symmetric service over FTTH.

Exam tip

FTTP/FTTH = fiber to the building; FTTN = fiber to the node, copper the rest.
