Endpoint Identifier (EID)

The LISP address that identifies an endpoint (host IP or MAC), independent of its network location.

Definition

EIDs are registered in the LISP mapping system against RLOCs. In SD-Access, host IPs and MACs are EIDs registered by edge nodes.

Example

Host 10.10.10.25 is an EID registered by edge node 192.168.255.5.

Exam tip

EID = who; RLOC = where.
