Dynamic Memory

A Hyper-V feature that adjusts a VM's memory between minimum and maximum values based on demand.

Definition

Dynamic Memory uses startup, minimum and maximum RAM settings, a memory buffer and weight. It improves density but is unsuitable for some workloads, such as certain database and Exchange configurations.

Example

A VDI VM starts with 2 GB and grows to 8 GB under load.

Exam tip

Some applications require static memory; check vendor support before enabling Dynamic Memory.
