Dipole Antenna

The simplest common omnidirectional antenna, typically 2.14 dBi gain.

Definition

A half-wave dipole consists of two conductive elements each about a quarter wavelength long. It produces a doughnut-shaped pattern and is the reference for dBd measurements. The rubber duck antennas on many APs are dipoles.

Exam tip

Remember 2.14 dBi as a standard dipole's gain.
