Corporate-Owned, Personally Enabled (COPE)

A deployment model where the organization owns the device but allows reasonable personal use.

Definition

COPE gives IT full device control while permitting personal apps, often separated via Android Enterprise work profiles on company-owned devices. CYOD lets employees choose from approved models that the company owns. These models contrast with BYOD.

Example

A sales team receives company-owned Android phones with a work profile and personal side.

Exam tip

COPE = company owns; BYOD = employee owns.
