A neural network that uses convolutional filters to detect spatial patterns, primarily for images.

Definition

CNNs slide learned filters across inputs to produce feature maps, then use pooling to reduce spatial size. Weight sharing makes them efficient and translation-tolerant. They power image classification, object detection and segmentation, though vision transformers now compete.
